The Process

The process in order to create the largest paper mache created not only required detailed planning, but also precise measurements and materials to create the paper mache.

We began in January of 2017, drafting a variety of ideas then the process of implementing the grapes began in February. We had multiple test runs to see how to format the grapes and how much ingredients are needed to create the perfect paper mache balloon.

We only used recycled newspapers, homemade wheat paste (Flour and water) and spray paint to create our structure. In total we created 450 grapes and assembled them over the course of around 5,000 hours.

We presented our structure at the ApCal Annual Craft Beer Festival located at 32749 Avenue 7, Madera, CA. 93627 on May 13, 2017. We were joined by over a thousand members of our local community. Thank you everyone for your support!
